Make a meaningful contribution to conservation with Resolution Health and Zurreal

Cape Town is soon to be declared a world heritage site because of its incredible biodiversity. One of our habitats, the Renosterveld once stretched from Vanrhynsdorp in the west, passing Table Mountain to Mossel Bay in the east.  Today only 4% is left.  If we don’t get involved in saving what’s left of the Renosterveld, it will soon be too late and we could lose our chance of obtaining this heritage status.

The Resolution Health Ride the Rhino is a 3 day stage event (± 300km) starting in Langebaan, at Nitida in Durbanville with the Season of Sauvignon.

Along the way, riders will see the best the Renosterveld has to offer as it will be in full bloom and the landscape will be alive with colour.  We will educate and inform the participating parties, holiday makers and race participants during those three days, to give the plight of the Renosterveld a face and a voice.

The main beneficiaries are the Renosterveld Trust, the communities along the route such as  the !KwaTtu San Foundation, Malmesbury Schools, Camphill Village, Ons Nessie Outreach Foundation and Groeneweide Old Age Home.  Our 300km MTB route crosses through private land of 68 farmers and 3 Farmers Unions.

The race also has an elite status due to the standard of the track (designed by Camel Man Trophy winner Pieter du Plessis) and the professionalism of the organisers. We have therefore drawn entrants such as Hannele Steyn Kotze and Hanlie Booyens and Male riders Jock Green, Billy Stelling, Ricardo Stermin and Louis Knipe.

The race has a Black Rhino (300km) and a White Rhino route (+/- 150km), which accommodates both serious and social rider. The race is tough and has the protection of the Renosterveld in mind.  We will allow 200 teams, 100 solos and 20 scholar teams, but foresee this race will grow as that has been the tendency with similar stage races in the past.

We encourage families to join in as it is school holidays and the viewing spots and water points along the way offer specials (game drives, accommodation and meals) for families.

“It’s all about our core principles, education, the environment and quality, healthy entertainment.  We support the drive to protect the Renosterveld and rhino from extinction” – Mark Arnold, Principal Officer

  • QhubekaQhubeka

Resolution Health is the proud medical sponsor to Team MTN Qhubeka which is Africa’s most successful and largest multi-discipline pro cycle race team. The talented athletes in Team MTN race to build exposure for Qhubeka’s rural initiatives and ride to inspire potential new athletes within the community of Qhubeka bike recipients.

In partnership with Qhubeka, Resolution Health proactively reaches out to the youth in disadvantaged communities. Qhubeka projects aim to help rural communities move forward and progress by giving bicycles to children in return for work done to improve their environment and their community. We support them as we believe education is key to leading a quality life.

The youngsters don’t just get given the bikes; they need to earn the bikes. Children grow trees in return for the bicycles and these trees are distributed and planted by project partners such as the Wildlands Conservation Trust. 75% of the cost of the bicycle is financed, while the recipient of the bike has to earn the other 25% to give them a better sense of ownership and involvement.
